WELLAND
I created my first painting in 1967 and I was hooked. Now, 53 years later I'm still trying to get it right. I can't even imagine how many cups of coffee that must add up to.
I have to be totally honest here. I really don't love to paint. It's really hard work! It's a struggle to go to my studio, but I eventually do and get to work. Why?, because I can't think of anything I would rather be doing. It's what I do and because it's what I need to do and most importantly, because I can. I want to do it more than anything and because of that, whatever I'm painting has to be worth it or I'm wasting my time.
You won't find any deep philosophical descriptions, long winded interpretations or hidden meanings in my paintings. No mystery here. I simply show up at my easel and go to work. It's simple, because I need to.
Mark Twain said it best...."The two most important days in your life are the day you were born and the day you find out why".
