DIANE SLAIGHT
"Painting has always been a love of mine, but, after I retired from a career in radio sales it has become more of a compulsion. Living in Fonthill and becoming a member of the local Pelham Art Association broadened my availability to a very generous group of artists who have helped inspire me these past years, and have had much influence in my past and future growth as an artist.
My style has evolved from the very naîve to a more realistic approach. I expressly enjoy painting people. They are such great subject matter! Colour is everywhere in peoples' nationalities and clothing. Expression of movement in their poses offers the challenge to show emotion and body language on the canvas. It is amazing how many stories are offered up by people going about their daily business. The thrill is when a viewer looks at one of my scenes and finds themselves in on the story. Most recently, I have been playing with abstract work in my usual medium of acrylic paint with some alternative mediums and found objects thrown into the mix". Artist Website – www.dianeslaight.com |
