Jessada Kongsommart is a young Thai artist who lives in Kalasin, Thailand, and is visiting a local artist in Pelham. He earned his B.A. in Fine Art from Burapha University. He is enthusiastic and very active in supporting local artists and the artistic community. He is regularly invited to present and demonstrate how he creates his art to students of art at universities and colleges. Jessada lives and works in his home studio on 10 acres of land, with his wife and two children as well as his parents. He and his wife also run a small art school in the nearest town
which is very popular with children and their parents. He has held many exhibitions in Thailand, both solo and with other artists, as well as having exhibited in the United States.
Jessada has developed and created his personal style of painting which depicts his love of Thai traditional objects, folk art and fabric patterns in particular. The processes of painting sound very simple as he starts with a sketch, then drafts in the colours using acrylic. In the second stage, he will focus on controlling the values by using dark tone of oil paints, for example purple, black, or brown. Jessada uses tissue paper to wipe off, scrape or make marks on the surface to create textures. He finally paints the details with acrylic paints.
