"I was born in South Africa, and grew up in Zimbabwe. I arrived in Canada in ‘89.
I started on a drawing board in Africa, until computers expanded my career into graphic design. In Toronto, I attended OCAD studying Art and Graphic Design, and there was exposed to both graphic and traditional styles which broadened my horizons.
In 2003 I decided to focus on fine art full time, embracing several different media: watercolours, pastels and acrylics. The strong artistic community in Cobourg encourages experiment.
My work is hanging in private collections in the USA, Ontario and South Africa.
Motivated by joyful movement, compelling rhythms and the excitement that colour establishes, I strive for a balance between imposed order and happy occurrence by combining pouring methods with regular techniques using acrylic paint on canvas in both large and small sizes.
Poured paint is mobile. It expands and rests and is self-possessed. Grid lines are more rhythmical. They produce co-ordinates, establish fields and assert their dominance. Exciting nuances co-exist within these two disparate approaches which, when colour comes into play, produce pieces that resonate with balance and excitement".
