STEVE WILSON SCA, CFS, SOVA
Steve works in Oil and Acrylic, also mixed media combining Acrylic, Oil and Graphite. Bringing back the past touches so many people, creating a visual to reconnect to our childhood or days gone by. His figure series and social media series also connect with art lovers in a timeless fashion. Steve’s work has been featured in publications like the Toronto Sun, the Hamilton Spectator, Brampton Guardian, and in an arts and culture magazine FuturReale and was the first feature artist in 2008. Having a world of experiences in the arts as an elected member and previously Director of Exhibitions for the Society of Canadian Artists 2012-2014, member of the Colour and Form Society, Artist, Teacher, and Juror, he was also on the board of Directors at Beaux-Arts Brampton from 2003-2007. He served as President the last 2 years, and previously Vice-President of the Mississauga Arts Society. Having the opportunity to co-jury the 2nd Annual Wildlife Nature and Native Show at Beaux-Arts 2010 with Charles Pachter and the late Daphne Odjig has added to his appreciation and direction in his art. Steve also juried the Orangeville art group members show and the Franklin Carmichael Art Centre annual show.
Currently represented by Galleries in Canada and the United States, he is in many private collections throughout the world. His work has also been featured at Queens Park, in The Peel Gallery in Brampton City Hall, the Mississauga Gallery and Burnie Regional Art Gallery, Burnie, in Tasmania, and Istanbul Turkey. Steve was recently invited to attend to the 8th Portakal Ciceği International Plastic Arts Colony which took place at Sapanca Dogapark Turkey, 11-19 June 2016 on behalf of Industrial developer and art collector Ahmet Şahin, the founder and chairman of the board of Portakal Çiçeği Art Colony for a 2 week venue with 29 international artists to paint for Ahmet Şahin and his museum collection that will be built soon.
An award winning artist receiving many awards including the Award of Excellence, Best Mixed Media” at the Mount Carmel Fine Arts Festival, Niagara Falls Ontario 2012, Honourable Mention Award at the Vaughan Juried Show 2008 Thornhill for “After the Rain and Honourable Mention Award at the International Winter Juried Show at the OSHAC Qualicum Beach BC coinciding with the Winter Olympics (One of 2 Ontario Artists) for “City Lights (Toronto), with shows in Canada, the United States and Australia is just part of his experience he brings to the easel.
