Jane was born in Welland, and grew up on the family farm in Willoughby Township, now Niagara Falls. After earning BFA and BEd degrees at the University of Toronto, she embarked on a career in teaching visual arts in Peel. Further studies at OCAD and the Toronto School of Art, and teaching assignments in France, Italy, Greece and China expanded her knowledge and understanding of her own art expression as well as those of her students. She retired as the department head of visual arts at a regional arts program. Initially a fibre artist, she added photography, digital art, glass working, graphic design, preparing print publications, and producing television and video to her skill set. After returning to the Niagara region, she concentrates mainly on painting, producing commissioned works and exhibiting frequently.
