Toronto
Barbara Staulus is a multidisciplinary artist with a background in photography and art history. Her practice is inspired by the ways in which history, politics and language shape our understanding of the world, and how those ideas are reflected through images. She uses collage techniques to breathe new life into old and discarded images, or to suggest alternative narratives. Her artwork has been exhibited at galleries in Ottawa and Toronto, and her video work has been screened at various film festivals in Canada and Spain. In 2015, she completed a commission entitled 'Documentum' for the German Consulate General in Toronto. Originally from Ottawa, she spent several years in Montreal and Europe. Barbara now lives and works in Toronto.
