DEBRA BANNISTER
"I have always had a passion for drawing and expressing myself with color. So much so that when I was in grade one I got into a lot of trouble coloring in my Dick and Jane books.
I have experimented with many different art forms while in high school but always came back to painting. In my early years it was oil painting and now it is watercolor. I love the unpredictable, fluid nature of this medium. As a military child and later as a member of the Hastings and Prince Edward Regiment traveling to far away places and meeting interesting people was a great adventure to me. My love for science also won out as a career, especially dealing with subjects involving chemistry and physics. I spent the next 15 years as a medical laboratory technologist and late as a laboratory manager. In 1999 I obtained my MBA and spent the next 10 years as a business performance consultant and as a global team manager for AGFA Healthcare. I continue to be influenced by the master strokes and colors of J. M. W. Turner and John Singer Sargent. Charles Reid, Barbara Holtz, Bridgit O'Connor, Annette Kane and Rose Edin also inspire me to be brave and bold with my subjects and my palette. I am currently a member of the Kawartha Artist's Gallery and Studio, the E.C.O.A.A, and an associate member of the Canadian Society of Painters In Watercolor".
