"Over the years my painting and drawing have developed from an interest into a passion. I wanted to experiment working in a larger scale while still trying to capture detail, character and delicacy. I now allow the subject to dictate which I use, sometimes the vibrancy of a flower means only colour will reflect its personality and spirit, and sometimes the contrast of light and shade are such a fundamental part of the symmetry of the image that this observation of beautiful forms has to be examined in full.
I am a long time resident in the Niagara region. Raised in Pelham, I know reside in Niagara-on-the-Lake with my husband and two wonderful dogs.
I am self taught mainly, with some training as a teenager by a local artist and my education is in Graphic Design which contributes to my paintings telling a story.
In my late 30,s I was living in Elora, and did many, many out door juried shows winning many peoples choice awards, I am honoured that my gift is enjoyed by many.
My Metamorphosis Collection was made with love for our Niagara grape region. As a child, I have fond memories of playing with my siblings in Welch’s Juice vineyards that surrounded our home. As play areas were limited, we used the foliage as our playground for hiding in or between the vines. It is these childhood memories that influenced the series.
I have been working with a Southern Ontario magazine which has helped open doors to new clients. I recently was part of Port Dalhousie’s 1st Art Walk. It was a great success in a show home on the lake. I will surely be attending that show until I can paint no more.
I have also been blessed to experience an other form of the arts, and worked as a Production Manager for a smaller Performing Arts Company, which opened an opportunity that lead me to work for the City of Guelph Theater, but my paint brushes always call me back".
