LAURA MASTERSON
Laura started to draw at an early age and just couldn’t stop. It’s no wonder that she attended Mohawk College in Brantford to become a commercial artist. For many years, she drew pictures all day at Thompson Printing in Paris, Ontario. What fun. For pay! Laura became proficient in many areas including air-brushing, setting up photo shoots, ink drawings, catalogue and book layouts, posters, brochures, labels and photo-retouching. When the print shop became computerized, she embraced the Mac, being able to create designs that weren’t feasible before.
Now, living near St. Catharines, she enjoys painting, photographing and putting books together for authors who self-publish. She still draws pictures and paints, often commissioned artwork. Since 2007, Laura has had many paintings included in the “Bruce Trail” calendar. She is a member of the Pelham Horticultural Society and is the editor of their quarterly newsletter, “The Garden View.” A few years ago, Laura spent so much time at the Pelham Art Festival, she thought, “I might as well have a booth!” That happened and ever since, she brings many of her acrylic paintings for everyone to enjoy.
