Peter Ripley has been painting for 55 years. He studied Commercial Art at Central Tech in Toronto and has also completed courses at the Ontario College of Art and Design. Peter's chosen medium is transparent watercolor and he enjoys working wet in wet. Winter scenes, he finds, are especially conducive to this medium. He has recently been working in acrylics.
Landscapes of the Muskoka area are what primarily inspire Peter and he spends most of his time painting in his studio located in Foots Bay. He has also enjoyed painting scenes from Europe after traveling there in the fall of 1994, and 2002, and most recently, the spring of 2004.
Peter has shown his paintings at the Kawartha Art Festival, Rideau Art Festival, Pelham Art Festival, Cobourg Art Festival, Ottawa Art Expo, Rideau Valley Art Festival, the Autumn Art Sale at The McMichael Art Gallery in Kleinberg, and the Muskoka Arts and Crafts summer show in Bracebridge of which he is a member. He also does commissions.
