"I completed my very first oil painting in 1967 at the age of fourteen. I was hooked. I continued to paint and study painting by attending group and private classes as a teen and it wasn’t until I attended a life drawing class in college that my entire thought process changed and realized what I really wanted to do. To become an artist.
Upon graduation I worked and excelled in the fields of Interior Design, Visual Presentation and Graphic Arts and it wasn’t until I realized that the challenges and excitement of what I was doing and doing very well were fading fast and it was at that time I decided it was time for a change in my life, so I decided to leave the corporate life and migrated back to my roots in the Niagara Peninsula where I was born and raised to do what I always dreamed of. To paint full time, and I’ve been doing it ever since.
My paintings depict the everyday, ordinary and easily ignorable things that most people take for granted, emphasizing colour, shape, light and shadow. I’ve learned to break down the subject matter to its simplest form, eliminating the chaos and clutter to achieve and capture a more defined intensity.
There is no long winded philosophies or deep seeded secrets here. I paint because I want to and because I can.
Mark Twain once wrote that the two most important days in your
life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.
I have accomplished both!
