SHEILA VANDER WIER
"I am a self taught artist who is inspired by the beauty of God’s creation. I enjoy the challenge of what I can create with oils on canvas. There is a wonderful sense of accomplishment to capture a moment of time and bring it to life. In 2010 I bought my first canvas and paints and it has been a wonderful journey ever since. I have had the privilege of my art work being selected for open juried shows /open juried wildlife shows in Brampton and the Colour and Form open juried exhibition in Etobicoke. In 2015 I had a fine art exhibit “Celebrating Beauty” at the Beaux-Arts Gallery in Brampton.
Art is like therapy to me. It allows me to slow down in my busy life and stop to marvel at the beauty all around me. I feel so blessed to be given this gift, I keep unwrapping a little piece at a time, a gift that I can share with you. Enjoy!
I use oil on stretched canvas. The first step in this process is capturing the image I want to paint. I then paint my canvas black allowing time to dry. I then I transfer my sketch onto the canvas and begin my blocking in. I continue to do layer after layer till I feel I have it complete".
