Curiosity and creativity are watchwords for Felicity Somerset. She is a Toronto-based fine art photographer whose photography is most often inspired by nature. Her focus in on the intimate and often abstracted image that captures the essence and intricacies of rural landscapes. Felicity grew up in England and her passion for image-making started when she was a child. Since 2004, Felicity’s photography has been widely exhibited in both group and solo shows. Her photographic work is in private collections internationally, and is in the permanent collections of the Lennox and Addington Museum and Archives and the Art Gallery of Northumberland. Her work has been published in photography magazines and in a series of books. These complex tree images are part of a larger collection which imagines a conversation between trees and abstracted elements of the natural world to create an alternative story. Maybe this is appropriate in a time of climate change.
