PELHAM ART FESTIVAL at the Meridian Community Centre (MCC) in Fonthill                        

Role 1: FESTIVAL SET UP/TAKE DOWN CREW

Time Commitment: About 3-5 hours

  • Thursday May 9, 9:00 am to 2:00 pm
  • Monday May 13, 9:00 am. - 12:00 pm

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • transfer display boards from storage room behind bleachers in MCC to floor of arena using a roller cart or by carrying the boards
  • transfer display accessories, and decorating supplies from storage room to arena floor
  • assemble display walls with direction of Crew Leaders or assistants
  • set up tables and chairs

Skills/Qualifications: 

  • Physically able to do manual labour - MUST BE physically able to lift 40 lbs. unassisted
  • Positive attitude
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • Ability to work well independently or in a group
  • Problem solving skills

Role 2: DECORATING CREW

Time Commitment: About 3 hours

  • Thursday May 9: 9:00 or 10:00 am - 2 pm
  • Friday May 10  9:00 am to 2 pm
  • Monday May 13 9:00 am to 12:00 pm

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Pick up plants from local growers with vehicle
  • Follow Theme of the Year plan
  • Decorate the Entry and Arena to make it welcoming for artists and the public:
  • Arrange plants for display around stage, in central dining area, and in entry to arena; arrange tables, chairs, accessories, decor where appropriate according to overall plan
  • Prepare centre pieces
  • Prepare Sponsor Sign display
  • Set up signage wherever needed in arena and entry to provide welcoming atmosphere

  • Physically able to do manual labour

  • Ability to follow instructions
  • Ability to work well independently or in a group
  • Problem solving skills
  • Creativity

Role 3: Floater/Booth Sitter 

Time Commitment:

  • Friday, May 10th: 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
  • Saturday May 11th: 10:00am-1:30pm or 1: 30 pm - 5:00 pm
  • Sunday, May 12th:10:00 am-1:30 pm or 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm

Responsibilities:

  • Interacting with exhibitors, attendees, and volunteers
  • Relieving artists for breaks (not required to sell art) 
  • Running errands

Skills/Qualifications: 

  • Interested in interacting with artists andcommunity members
  • Friendly and able to provide polite communication
